The redevelopment of Secunderabad Railway Station is advancing rapidly, with several major components completed and others in active progress. Notably, the new Railway Protection Force (RPF) building and a temporary booking office have been completed, marking significant project milestones.
Ongoing construction includes vital infrastructure such as an air concourse, multi-level car parking (MLCP) on the north side, foot over bridges (FOBs), elevators, and an electric sub-station on the south side. On the southern end, foundation work is largely finished, and basement construction—intended to accommodate parking for 200 vehicles—is nearly 90% complete. The ground level above will function as a designated drop-off zone.
The ₹720 crore project, awarded to Girdharilal Construction, is slated for completion by late 2025 or early 2026. As part of the station’s power infrastructure upgrade, two new 33 KV substations will replace outdated 11 KV units to meet rising energy demands.
South Central Railway (SCR) officials highlighted that the redevelopment is being carried out with minimal disruption to passenger services. The new station will feature contemporary architecture and world-class facilities, significantly enhancing the travel experience. Construction progress is being closely monitored with strict adherence to safety and quality standards.
