₹6,400 Crore Deal: Manipal Hospitals Set to Absorb Sahyadri

Manipal Hospitals is set to acquire Pune-based Sahyadri Hospitals from global investor Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan Board in a deal estimated between ₹6,200–₹6,400 crore. While the exact transaction value remains undisclosed, Manipal confirmed it has signed definitive agreements with Ontario Teachers' for the acquisition.

The deal will add 11 hospitals to Manipal’s network, expanding its footprint across Pune, Nashik, Ahilya Nagar, and Karad. Post-acquisition, Manipal Hospitals will operate 49 hospitals with a combined bed capacity of approximately 12,000—solidifying its position as one of India’s largest hospital chains.

The acquisition aligns with Manipal’s strategy to scale its presence across India, particularly in western regions. “With the strong partnership of stakeholders like Temasek, we are excited to grow our operations and bring Manipal’s trusted brand of quality healthcare to many more patients,” said Dilip Jose, MD & CEO, Manipal Health Enterprises.

Ranjan Pai, Chairman of Manipal Education and Medical Group (MEMG), added that the acquisition will “significantly strengthen Manipal’s presence in western India.” Temasek, Manipal’s key investor, reported a net portfolio value of ₹324 billion as of March 31, 2025.
