The National Highway division of Maharashtra’s Public Works Department (PWD) has commenced work on the long-delayed Chinchbhuvan–Mihan Interchange flyover project in Nagpur.
Estimated at ₹619.55 crore and awarded to a Bhopal-based contractor, the project is slated for completion within 24 months. To prevent traffic disruptions during the winter session of the state legislature, the PWD has begun with road-widening activities prior to initiating flyover construction. The project scope includes a 2.69 km six-lane flyover, redevelopment of the existing four-lane road beneath it, and widening of a 3.05 km stretch of Wardha Road to six lanes near the Mihan Interchange. As part of the execution, the PWD has sought approval to cut 415 trees, and the Nagpur Municipal Corporation has invited public objections.
Once completed, the flyover is expected to significantly ease congestion, reduce accidents along the busy Nagpur–Hyderabad highway (NH-44), and enhance traffic movement at one of Nagpur’s most critical entry points, Chinchbhuvan.
