Reliance Infrastructure (RIL) will develop 70 hectares of open public space along the Mumbai Coastal Road at an estimated cost of ₹400 crore, as announced by Nita Ambani, Founder and Chairperson of Reliance Foundation, during RIL’s Annual General Meeting.
This initiative comes in response to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) call for private participation in converting reclaimed coastal land into vibrant public spaces. The broader Coastal Road Gardens and promenade project will span 130 acres, featuring walkways, cycling tracks, plazas, and landscaped green zones.
The project will be executed and maintained by RIL as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) commitment for a period of 30 years. Of the 111 hectares of reclaimed land along the coastal road, 70 hectares have been earmarked for public landscape development. Other notable contributors include Tata Sons, which will beautify five hectares of road medians. Additional bids were submitted by Jindal, Raymond, RPG Foundation, and Vedanta.
