A ₹150 crore guava processing plant is set to be established in Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan, with the objective of boosting farmers’ incomes through value addition and agricultural innovation.
The proposed facility is expected to significantly enhance demand for guava and processed guava products in both domestic and global markets. The announcement was made at the inaugural Guava Festival held in Sawai Madhopur on January 18, 2026, in the presence of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Rajasthan’s Agriculture Minister Kirodi Lal Meena. Rajasthan currently has around 14,000 hectares under guava cultivation, of which nearly 11,000 hectares are concentrated in Sawai Madhopur. At present, guava farmers earn between ₹600 crore and ₹700 crore annually, with the state government aiming to scale this figure up to ₹1,600 crore.
The processing plant is seen as a critical development, as farmers currently have to transport their produce to distant markets such as Delhi and Vadodara. Once operational, the facility will offer a high-value, local market for guava growers, reducing logistics challenges and improving profitability.
