Pune’s New Lifeline: The SPPU Double-Decker Flyover Opens.

A newly completed double-decker flyover on Ganeshkhind Road at Savitribai Phule Pune University Chowk in Pune was virtually inaugurated on 08 March 2026 by Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister of Maharashtra.

The project was developed by the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) and features a two-level design, with a road flyover on the lower deck and a Metro corridor on the upper level. This integrated structure allows both vehicular traffic and rapid transit services to share the same corridor efficiently.

The new infrastructure is expected to ease congestion and reduce travel time in key areas such as Baner, Pashan, Shivajinagar, and Aundh, which often face heavy traffic during peak hours.

The flyover was formally opened to the public following the virtual inauguration ceremony, which was attended by Murlidhar Mohol and Sunetra Pawar, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
