President Murmu Launches UP's ₹268 Cr AYUSH University

President Droupadi Murmu today inaugurated the Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath AYUSH University in Pipri, Bhathat, Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, marking a major milestone in the state’s journey toward holistic healthcare and cultural enrichment. Built at a cost of ₹268 crore, this is the first dedicated AYUSH university in Uttar Pradesh.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by several prominent leaders, including Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Minister of State for AYUSH and Food Safety (Independent Charge) Dayashankar Mishra Dayalu, and local MP Ravi Kishan Shukla.

Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath highlighted the university’s cultural and historical significance, describing it as a tribute to India’s ancient knowledge systems.

The university aims to become a hub for education and research in traditional systems of medicine such as Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy (AYUSH), offering alternative approaches to healthcare and promoting India’s indigenous medical heritage.
