Patel Engineering: Sikkim's ₹240 Cr Hydropower Win!

Patel Engineering Ltd. has secured a contract worth ₹239.98 crore from NHPC for executing civil and hydro-mechanical works at the Teesta-V Hydropower Station in South Sikkim.

The project, part of Package 6 of the Teesta-V scheme, involves the conversion of an existing diversion tunnel into a tunnel spillway arrangement. The scope includes the construction of a tunnel spillway, gate operation chamber and shaft, precast bridge, access roads, energy dissipation structures, a dyke, an environmental flow tunnel, and other associated infrastructure. The work is scheduled to be completed within 18 months.

Commenting on the development, Dr. Shankar Patil, a senior official at Patel Engineering, said, “This project further strengthens our portfolio in complex hydropower and infrastructure execution in difficult terrains, reaffirming our capabilities in the sector.”

This win follows the company’s announcement in May 2025 of a ₹1,318.89 crore contract from CIDCO for the Kondhane Dam project in Maharashtra. That project covers civil, hydro-mechanical, and electrical works, including the installation of three radial gates and electrification, with a 42-month timeline.

These back-to-back contracts underscore Patel Engineering’s strategic growth and expanding presence in India’s hydro infrastructure sector.
