Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has announced that the state government is prioritizing high-value manufacturing as a strategic move to position Odisha as the manufacturing hub of Eastern India.
Speaking at the foundation stone-laying ceremony for 27 industrial projects across 12 districts, CM Majhi noted that rising investment inflows reflect growing industry confidence in the state’s policies. The newly launched projects represent a cumulative investment of over ₹25,000 crore and are expected to generate employment for more than 52,000 people. Key sectors include renewable energy, rare earth minerals, textiles, chemicals, and others.
Since assuming office 15 months ago, the BJP government has approved 260 industrial projects with a total investment of ₹5.6 lakh crore, potentially creating 3.6 lakh jobs. Foundations have already been laid for 84 projects, attracting investments worth over ₹2 lakh crore and expected to provide around 1.64 lakh job opportunities.
CM Majhi reassured the industrial community of supportive governance, promising sector-specific incentives and investor-friendly policies. He emphasized Odisha’s growing role in the global manufacturing value chain, underlining the state’s ambition to become a competitive, innovation-driven industrial destination.
