Odisha to Host Jindal's ₹15,000 Crore Green Steel Plant

Jindal (India) has secured approval from the High-Level Clearance Authority (HLCA) of the Odisha government to establish a greenfield steel manufacturing facility in the state. The project will see an initial investment of ₹3,600 crore, with a total planned outlay of ₹15,000 crore across three phases by 2030.

The upcoming plant will specialize in producing high-grade coated steel products and will house advanced facilities including a Cold Rolling Mill (CRM), Continuous Galvanizing Line (CGL), and Colour Coating Line (CCL). These units will collectively offer an annual production capacity of 9.6 lakh tonnes. The first phase is scheduled for commissioning by 2027.

Additionally, Jindal India Steel Tech Ltd. (JISTL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Jindal (India), will work in parallel to scale up the plant’s total capacity to 30 lakh metric tonnes per annum in flat steel products by 2030.

“This major approval paves the way for long-term industrial growth in Odisha and reinforces Jindal’s commitment to high-value steel manufacturing in India,” the company said in a statement.
