NHAI Taps Kaluwala Construction for Varanasi Underpass

Kaluwala Construction, based in Gurugram, has secured the position of the lowest bidder (L1) in a tender issued by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for the construction of an underpass in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.

The underpass will be constructed on NH-31 (formerly NH-56) on a deposit basis through the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) mode. This project is being undertaken to support the proposed runway expansion of the Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport.

The project is slated for completion within 24 months and includes a maintenance period of 10 years. Financial bids were opened on 03 June 2025, with Kaluwala Construction quoting Rs 217.98 crore—31.23% below the estimated project cost.
