In a move aimed at boosting regional connectivity, the Railway Board has approved the final location survey for a new 45-kilometre railway line between Saradiya and Wansjaliya, enhancing rail infrastructure in the remote areas of Junagadh and Jamnagar districts in Gujarat.
According to Atul Kumar Tripathi, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager of the Bhavnagar Division, the proposed line will provide a shorter and more efficient route linking key destinations such as Somnath, Dwarka, Okha, and Porbandar. It is expected to significantly improve connectivity to important pilgrimage centers including Girnar, Somnath, and Dwarka, while also strengthening passenger and freight services across the region.
Saradiya, located in Manavadar taluka of Junagadh district, and Wansjaliya, about 34 km from Porbandar in Jamnagar district, are strategically positioned to benefit from the new alignment. Wansjaliya currently serves as a halt for both passenger and express trains.
The proposed railway line is expected to enhance regional transportation, promote religious and cultural tourism, and facilitate trade by offering a more direct route for the movement of people and goods in western Gujarat.
