Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train: 300 KM of Elevated Track Ready

The Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail project has reached a significant milestone with the completion of 300 kilometers of viaducts, as announced by the National High Speed Rail Corporation (NHSRCL) on May 20, 2025.

As India's first bullet train corridor, the project is a major step forward in the country’s infrastructure development, incorporating indigenous construction technologies in line with the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative. Of the 300 km completed, 257.4 km were constructed using the Full Span Launching Method (FSLM), a technique up to ten times faster than conventional methods. An additional 37.8 km were built using the Span by Span (SBS) method.

The corridor also includes steel bridges, PSC bridges, and viaducts integrated with station structures. To support this massive construction effort, 27 dedicated casting yards and seven steel fabrication workshops have been set up across the country. To address environmental concerns, over 300,000 noise barriers have been installed along the route.

Construction is simultaneously advancing on multiple fronts, including track laying, foundation and pier works, girder casting, modern rolling stock depots, and state-of-the-art stations in both Maharashtra and Gujarat. Backed by technological collaboration with Japan, this progress reflects India's growing capabilities in high-speed rail engineering and execution.
