MECL Powers Up Exploration with New KDR-600 Drill Rig

Mineral Exploration and Consultancy Limited (MECL) has inducted a new KDR-600 drill rig manufactured by Kores India Limited, marking a major step in strengthening its mineral exploration capabilities.

The new rig, designated as Rig No. MEC-412, was officially flagged off in the presence of senior MECL officials, including Pankaj Pandey.

According to the organisation, the KDR-600 drill rig is expected to significantly enhance MECL’s deep drilling and complex exploration capabilities, enabling it to undertake advanced mineral exploration projects across the country more efficiently.

The deployment is aimed at improving operational productivity, technical performance, and execution capacity for strategic and high-priority exploration programmes. MECL said the addition aligns with India’s broader objective of strengthening resource self-reliance and expanding domestic mineral exploration infrastructure.

With the modernisation of its technical equipment and drilling systems, MECL aims to accelerate exploration activities in support of industrial growth, critical mineral security, and long-term economic and infrastructure development.

The company added that the induction of the KDR-600 forms part of its ongoing strategy to adopt advanced exploration technologies and build stronger capabilities to meet India’s growing demand for critical minerals.
