The Maharashtra government has approved an in-principle proposal for a new Metro corridor connecting Thane, Kalwa, Mumbra, and Diva, directing Maha Metro to complete a feasibility study and Detailed Project Report (DPR) within six months. The proposed line will integrate with the Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor at Mhatardi in Diva and connect to Metro 12 (Kalyan–Taloja) at Manpada, creating an interconnected regional transit loop across Thane, Dombivli, Taloja, Kalyan, and Bhiwandi. Maha Metro Managing Director Shravan Hardikar noted that land acquisition should proceed smoothly due to available open land along the route.
