Maharashtra Bags ₹56,000 CR for Port Mega-Projects

The Government of Maharashtra has secured ₹56,000 crore in investment commitments to accelerate the expansion of its maritime infrastructure.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that 15 agreements were signed during India Maritime Week, encompassing port expansions, shipyard development, and technology upgrades. Major investments include the Adani Group’s expansion of Dighi Port, a large-scale industrial development project, and the JSW Group’s plans to expand Jaigad Port. These initiatives aim to integrate Maharashtra’s ports into global supply chains and drive sustainable economic growth.

The state also plans to launch a water taxi service connecting the new Navi Mumbai International Airport and to develop a world-class marina in Mumbai. Complementing these infrastructure projects, Maharashtra will strengthen maritime education and technology through the creation of centres of excellence, supporting its vision to become India’s leading maritime superpower.
