Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBIA), Guwahati, reported strong operational growth in Q1 of FY 2025–26 (April–June 2025), reinforcing its status as a critical aviation hub for Northeast India.
The airport recorded 12,470 aircraft movements and welcomed 1.81 million passengers during the quarter—marking solid year-on-year double-digit growth in both metrics. This surge reflects increasing regional demand for air travel and LGBIA’s growing role in linking Northeast India with the rest of the country and beyond.
April 10 stood out as the airport’s busiest day, with a record 21,594 passengers. Delhi, Kolkata, and Bengaluru remained the top destinations, underscoring strong metro connectivity.
LGBIA’s performance is credited to continued investment in infrastructure, digital systems, and customer experience enhancements. Looking ahead, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed that the airport’s new terminal building is on track for completion later this year. The upgraded facility is expected to position LGBIA as a key gateway to Southeast Asia, further strengthening cross-border trade and travel.
