Karnataka's ₹3,400 Crore Boost: Bengaluru North Takes Center Stage

The Karnataka Cabinet has approved development projects totaling ₹3,400 crore, with the Bengaluru division—particularly Kolar and Chikkaballapura districts—receiving a major share of ₹2,550 crore. Among the key decisions, Bengaluru Rural district will be renamed Bengaluru North, while Bagepalli will be renamed Bhagyanagara.

Bengaluru City University is also set to be renamed in honor of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. “Cabinet meetings are being held across all revenue divisions to decentralize governance and provide targeted, ‘therapeutic solutions’ to local issues,” stated the Chief Minister.

As part of the Bengaluru division development, ₹50 crore has been allocated to enhance tourism and hospitality infrastructure at Nandi Hills. Chikkaballapura will receive ₹10 crore for an international flower auction centre and ₹141.5 crore for a state-of-the-art flower market.

In Kolar, ₹40 crore and ₹20 crore have been allocated for upgrading government colleges for boys and girls, respectively. Additionally, ₹123 crore has been earmarked for the development of the Bengaluru North university campus, ₹46 crore for health centre upgrades, and ₹21.40 crore for new MRI machines.
