Kamath's Clean Energy Bet: ₹137.5 Crore for Goldi Solar

Nikhil Kamath, co-founder of Zerodha, has invested ₹137.5 crore in Goldi Solar, one of India’s leading solar photovoltaic (PV) module manufacturers. The funding will support capacity expansion and strengthen Goldi Solar’s position in the global renewable energy market.

Kamath emphasized the sector’s potential, stating, “India’s renewable energy landscape presents a massive opportunity to build global-scale companies. Supporting such ventures is essential to accelerating our clean energy transition.”

Founded in 2011 by Ishverbhai Dholakia and headquartered in Surat, Goldi Solar has grown its PV module capacity from 3 GW to 14.7 GW in just one year. The company is also establishing solar cell manufacturing facilities in Surat and focusing on high-efficiency modules based on next-generation technologies.

The investment aligns with India’s ambitious 280 GW solar capacity target by 2030, aided by government incentives such as import duties and the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme.
