Jal Jeevan 2.0: AP & Centre Sign Mega Water Deal

The Centre and the Government of Andhra Pradesh have formalized a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in New Delhi to roll out the next phase of the Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0, with a focus on speeding up access to drinking water in rural areas.

The signing ceremony was attended by Union Jal Shakti Minister C. R. Patil, while Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan joined virtually from the State Secretariat. Officials from both the Centre and the State exchanged agreement documents, reinforcing Andhra Pradesh’s goal of ensuring continuous and safe drinking water supply to every rural household by 2028.

Emphasizing the state’s preparedness, Naidu highlighted a comprehensive water infrastructure policy introduced in September 2025. He also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for extending the mission’s timeline to 2028, noting that the partnership will play a key role in improving water accessibility and long-term sustainability across rural Andhra Pradesh.
