Indore Metro Rolls On: Alstom Launches Next Phase of the Yellow Line

Alstom has marked the commencement of revenue operations for the next phase of Indore Metro’s Yellow Line.

Under its contract with Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MPMRCL), Alstom is supplying 52 Movia metro trainsets, alongside a 15-year comprehensive maintenance agreement that includes seven years of maintenance for signalling, train control, and telecommunication systems. The 31.5 km Yellow Line will ultimately comprise 16 stations across a 16.72 km operational mainline currently in service. Ten Alstom-equipped trainsets are operating under Grade of Automation 1 (GoA1) with Automatic Train Protection (ATP), while 23 of the 25 allocated trainsets have already been delivered to Indore. Built at Alstom’s rolling stock facility in Savli, Gujarat, the trains feature a 3-car configuration capable of accommodating 1,125 passengers and operating at a maximum speed of 80 km/h.

The onboard Train Control and Management System (TCMS) is integrated with an automatic track inspection system for reliable data transmission, alongside Alstom's Urbalis Forward communications-based train control (CBTC) signalling system. The metro trains also feature energy-efficient traction systems with regenerative braking and smart lighting solutions to optimize overall power consumption.
