Naxion Energy, a Hyderabad-based sodium-ion battery manufacturer, has announced plans to invest ₹200 crore by December 2026 to expand its production capacity and establish a new manufacturing facility.
The company, which currently operates a plant in Coimbatore, will also increase its workforce by 50% to support its growth trajectory. According to CEO Abishek Reddy, the upcoming facility—scheduled to become operational next year—will house both an assembly unit and a cell manufacturing line, making it Naxion Energy’s second major production hub. Earlier in the day, the company unveiled India’s first sodium-ion-based energy storage systems, developed at the Coimbatore plant.
The newly launched integrated platform features a battery, inverter, and solar maximum power point tracking (MPPT) unit. Positioned as a safer, lighter, and more cost-effective alternative to lead-acid batteries, it is suitable for residential, commercial, industrial, and defence applications. The new platform, along with the upcoming facility, is expected to accelerate the company’s scale-up efforts and support India’s transition to cleaner energy solutions.
