ICAI to Build Forensic Lab in Hyderabad for Small CA Firms

Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) will establish an advanced forensic auditing laboratory in Hyderabad to support small and medium practitioners in strengthening their forensic audit capabilities, according to ICAI President Prasanna Kumar D.

The institute, which has over five lakh members including a large base of small and medium chartered accountant firms, aims to enhance their participation in high-value audit assignments through this initiative.

Speaking to PTI, Prasanna Kumar D said forensic auditing is an emerging domain, and many smaller CA firms currently lack the specialised expertise and infrastructure required to handle large-scale forensic audit engagements.

The proposed laboratory is expected to provide both technological tools and professional support, enabling practitioners to build stronger capabilities in forensic auditing and compete for larger and more complex assignments in the sector.
