Hydrogen Innovation: India's First 25kW AEM Electrolyser Arrives

Hydrogen Innovation Pvt Ltd India, a Mangaluru-based startup, has unveiled the country’s first 25-kilowatt Anion Exchange Membrane (AEM) electrolyser stack—marking a major milestone in India's green hydrogen journey.

Developed at the company’s Mangaluru facility, the AEM stack is a key component in producing green hydrogen by splitting water into hydrogen and oxygen using electrical energy. This clean fuel alternative holds promise for significantly reducing carbon emissions.

Speaking at the ‘HYDGEN Innovation Day 2025’ in Mangaluru, Director M. Krishna Kumar shared that while the electrolysers are manufactured locally, select components are produced at the company’s Pune unit before final assembly and testing in Mangaluru.

Kumar emphasized that this is the first 25-kW AEM electrolyser stack developed in India. Unlike the more common alkaline and proton exchange membrane (PEM) technologies, AEM offers a newer and promising approach to efficient and cost-effective green hydrogen production.
