The South Central Railway (SCR) is redeveloping three key suburban railway stations in Hyderabad—Hafizpet, Huppuguda, and HiTech City—under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, aiming to upgrade passenger infrastructure and amenities.
With a combined investment of ₹81.97 crore, the revamped stations are expected to be completed and open to the public within the next three months. The redevelopment includes:
Modern waiting halls, Wide foot overbridges equipped with lifts and escalators, Digital signboards, New station facades, Disabled-friendly restrooms, Expanded circulating areas
Station-specific details:
Hafizpet (handling ~9,000 passengers daily) is being upgraded at a cost of ₹29.21 crore
Huppuguda (serving ~5,000 daily users) is receiving a second entry point and improved facilities at ₹26.81 crore
HiTech City (used by ~4,000 passengers daily) is being developed at ₹25.95 crore, featuring a new booking office and facade
These stations are part of a broader initiative covering 40 stations in Telangana under the Amrit Bharat scheme, with a total allocation of ₹2,752 crore. Foundation stones for these projects were laid between August 2023 and February 2024.
