HFCL has announced that it has entered into a five-year agreement with a global municipal corporation for the supply of high-quality, high-fibre-count optical fibre cables (OFC). The contract has a potential value of about $1.10 billion (₹10,159 crore) based on prevailing selling prices.
In a stock exchange filing, the company stated that a minimum quantity of multi-million fibre kilometres (fkm) of OFC will be supplied annually from calendar year 2026 to 2028. The agreement will automatically extend for an additional two years, covering CY29 and CY30, with purchase orders to be issued periodically during the contract period depending on project-specific and technical requirements.
HFCL noted that this is the first time the company has entered into a long-term, multi-year OFC supply agreement tailored to a customer’s specific requirements.
Under the terms of the agreement, a wholly owned subsidiary of HFCL will also be eligible to supply optical fibre cables to the customer’s authorised affiliates and assignees.
