The Gujarat government is accelerating residential infrastructure development in Dholera to support Tata Group’s upcoming ₹91,000 crore semiconductor fabrication plant. To accommodate expatriates, Tata employees, and workers from partner and supplier networks, approximately 1,500 serviced apartments are being developed, according to The Economic Times.
Of these, 275 units are already completed, with 250 currently occupied. Another 225 apartments are nearing completion near the under-construction chip manufacturing facility in the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR). Construction has also begun on an additional 1,000 units, targeted for completion by early 2026. In parallel, Tata has received a 10-acre land allotment to build its own residential complex, which will feature 530 apartments and is expected to be ready by mid-2027. Supporting infrastructure work is progressing in tandem.
Complementing this development, a Global Tent City is underway, offering international food streets and key amenities including a school, hospital, desalination plant, fire station, shopping mall, and hotel. These facilities are being constructed by private developers on land auctioned by the government. At the groundbreaking ceremony in March 2024, Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that the first semiconductor chip from the Dholera plant is expected to roll out by December 2026.
