In a bid to resolve implementation bottlenecks, the Commerce and Industry Ministry recently convened a high-level review meeting under the Project Monitoring Group (PMG) mechanism, focusing on 22 critical issues impacting 18 major infrastructure projects worth over ₹36,296 crore across Gujarat and Rajasthan.
Among the key initiatives reviewed was the ₹14,147 crore transmission system strengthening scheme for the evacuation of solar power from designated renewable energy zones in the two states. The project aims to enhance national grid integration through the development of high-capacity transmission lines and substations, enabling efficient transfer of solar energy.
The meeting was chaired by Praveen Mahto, Principal Economic Adviser, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT). He urged private sector stakeholders to actively leverage the PMG platform to fast-track project execution and unlock investment value.
Other projects discussed included Reliance Jio’s 4G and 5G expansion plans, aimed at strengthening mobile connectivity in underserved and remote regions. Coordination with state governments focused on expediting critical clearances, especially those involving forest land diversion and regulatory approvals.
