Golden Line Gets Going: Saket G Block Metro Construction Begins

Construction has begun on the proposed Saket G Block Metro station, a key interchange hub on Delhi Metro’s upcoming Golden Line, as work progresses on the capital’s Phase IV network expansion.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has initiated foundational works at the site, including piling, pile cap construction and pier development. The station is part of the 8.385-km Lajpat Nagar–Saket G Block corridor, which is targeted for completion by June 2029.

The corridor will comprise eight stations—Lajpat Nagar, Andrews Ganj, Greater Kailash-I, Chirag Dilli, Pushpa Bhawan, Saket District Court, Pushp Vihar and Saket G Block—and is expected to enhance metro connectivity across South Delhi while providing improved access to key residential, commercial and institutional destinations.

Saket G Block is being designed as an elevated interchange station with a shared concourse that will enable passengers to switch between metro lines without exiting the paid area. The facility will feature four platforms, including an island platform arrangement, to support efficient passenger movement and seamless interchange operations.

Once completed, the station is expected to serve as an important transit node within the Delhi Metro network, improving connectivity, reducing travel times and enhancing commuter convenience. The project is also expected to ease pressure on existing transport infrastructure and encourage greater use of public transit.

The Lajpat Nagar–Saket G Block corridor forms a critical part of Delhi Metro’s Phase IV programme, which is focused on expanding network coverage, strengthening interconnectivity and meeting the growing mobility requirements of the National Capital Region.
