India has marked a key milestone in its infrastructure expansion with the trial opening of the Godhra–Vadodara stretch of the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway on April 13, 2026.
This eight-lane segment, running from Bhamaiya village near Godhra to Dodka village near Vadodara in Gujarat, represents steady progress toward the completion of the 1,386-km-long high-speed corridor, the country’s longest expressway. The stretch has been designed to enhance speed, safety, and travel efficiency.
Once fully operational, the expressway is expected to reduce travel time between Delhi and Mumbai to around 12 hours, significantly improving long-distance road transport. Being developed under the Bharatmala Pariyojana at an estimated cost of about ₹1 lakh crore, the project aims to boost logistics efficiency and strengthen economic integration.
The corridor will connect key infrastructure hubs, including major airports such as Jewar and ports like JNPT, while also integrating with other major corridors such as the Samruddhi Mahamarg.
With design speeds of 100–120 km/h across most sections, the expressway is set to enhance connectivity across six states, facilitate trade, and support regional economic growth through faster movement of goods and passengers.
