Ford Revives Tamil Nadu Plant with Rs 3,250 Crore Investment

Ford Motor Company Vice Chairman Mathew Godlewski led a high-level delegation to meet Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay, discussing plans to revive the Maraimalai Nagar plant. The talks centered on Ford's Rs 3,250 crore investment to build a next-generation engine and powertrain unit, projected to create 600 direct jobs. With commercial production slated for 2029–2030, the initiative builds on Ford’s 30-year legacy in the state, which also features a 12,000-strong Global Capability Centre in Chennai and a new skills hub in Coimbatore. Ford previously ceased vehicle manufacturing at the facility in 2021 before signing a revival MOU in 2024.
