Amaravati, the capital of Andhra Pradesh, is undergoing a major transformation into a modern, smart, and sustainable city through extensive infrastructure development.
Work is in progress across 38 project packages, covering flood control, urban infrastructure, smart roads, and green space development. Among these, 14 road work packages have been tendered and are actively progressing.
The new roads will be expanded to six lanes and equipped with "Smart Trunk Infrastructure" — including dedicated cycling and pedestrian tracks, avenue plantations, underground sewerage, utility ducts, water and irrigation pipelines, reused water lines, ICT networks, electricity supply, and modern street furniture. Key projects include Package-IV, valued at ₹522.39 crore, and roads such as N-15, E-6, and N-12, with a total investment exceeding ₹4,000 crore.
To enhance urban greenery, around ₹175 crore has been allocated for avenue plantations along 35 roads, and ₹25 crore for developing public parks across the city.
Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P. Narayana confirmed that the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) aims to complete the trunk roads within 1.5 years and the Land Pooling Scheme (LPS) layout infrastructure within 2.5 years.
