Delhi Gears Up for Nand Nagri Flyover Grand Opening

The Public Works Department (PWD) is preparing to inaugurate the Nand Nagri flyover in Delhi by mid-September 2025. “We aim to open the flyover around September 16–17, in alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday,” said PWD Minister Parvesh Verma.

The 1.5-km, six-lane flyover—built on a single-pillar structure—extends from the Mandoli prison complex to Gagan Cinema along Mangal Pandey Marg. It is designed to significantly reduce traffic congestion in northeast Delhi. Once operational, the Nand Nagri and Gagan Cinema junctions will be made signal-free, improving connectivity between the Signature Bridge and the Ghaziabad border. The project is also a key step toward the government's plan to make the entire Wazirabad Road signal-free.

On July 7, 2025, Minister Verma, along with North East Delhi MP Manoj Tiwari and Deputy Speaker Mohan Singh Bisht, inspected the nearly completed flyover. It complements a 1.3-km double-decker structure constructed by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). A senior official confirmed that work resumed after environmental clearance was secured, resolving previous delays related to tree removal permissions. The project also includes six U-turns to facilitate smoother traffic flow.
