Delhi Demands Fast-Track Completion of UER-II Underpass & Flyover

The Delhi government is urging the expedited completion of a key infrastructure project involving an underpass and flyover at the intersection of Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) and the Gurgaon–Jaipur Highway, aimed at easing chronic traffic congestion in the city’s western and outer districts.

Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Parvesh Verma underscored the urgency of the project, citing the need to reduce travel delays, fuel consumption, and air pollution caused by prolonged traffic snarls in areas such as Najafgarh, Dwarka, Rohini, and along National Highway 8. The project is being executed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and is considered vital for strengthening regional connectivity.

Verma also highlighted the importance of correcting existing construction flaws and implementing durable, long-term infrastructure solutions. Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa echoed these concerns, stating, “Our priority is to identify and implement measures to reduce pollution, which spikes due to persistent vehicular congestion.”

The Delhi government has committed to conducting regular progress reviews to ensure the project is completed on schedule and with a strong focus on public benefit.
