The District Collector has reviewed the progress of the Pulivendula Water Grid project at the district camp office and expressed satisfaction over its near completion, noting that it will ensure an uninterrupted drinking water supply.
Kadapa District Collector Sreedhar Cherukuri said the project was meticulously planned and largely implemented to meet the drinking water requirements of both rural and urban areas in the Pulivendula constituency. He noted that most components are already functional and directed officials to complete the remaining works within the first week of the month to prevent any potential water shortages.
Stressing the urgency, the Collector instructed concerned departments to deploy additional resources if necessary and ensure the project is fully ready for inauguration.
Implemented under the Centre’s Jal Jeevan Mission at a cost of ₹480 crore, the Water Grid aims to supply 135 litres of safe drinking water per person per day. The project will benefit around 5.36 lakh people across 299 habitations in 109 Gram Panchayats. “All pending works must be completed without any further delay,” the Collector said.
