CNG Revolution Rolls into Nagpur: 700 km Pipeline Complete!

The 700 km Mumbai–Nagpur Natural Gas Pipeline has completed its final pressure testing, placing Nagpur just days away from receiving compressed natural gas (CNG).

This pipeline forms a key segment of the larger 1,700 km Mumbai–Nagpur–Jharsuguda network—an ₹8,000 crore project designed to supply natural gas across Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha. Officials confirmed that the final test was conducted at nearly 140 kg pressure, although routine operations will run at about 90 kg. With gas flow already reaching Nashik, progress along the western corridor is well on track. The network also includes a 310 km spur line linking Nagpur with Chhindwara and Jabalpur.

The project is expected to significantly benefit industries and SMEs by reducing fuel costs and enabling cleaner, safer operations. Once fully operational, GAIL will supply CNG to HCG Nagpur, paving the way for expanded piped natural gas access throughout the city. The development is poised to transform fuel availability in Vidarbha and support regional industrial growth.
