Goa Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant has laid the foundation stone for a new Government Office Complex in Bicholim Taluk, marking a significant step toward enhancing administrative efficiency and public service delivery in the region.
The state-of-the-art facility, estimated at a cost of ₹57.33 crore, will accommodate multiple government departments and include amenities such as a public library and an open hall. The project is expected to be completed within 18 months. Dr. Sawant reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening public infrastructure and ensuring effective governance across Goa.
Earlier in Panaji, Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal Khattar, met with Chief Minister Sawant and Urban Development Minister Vishwajit Rane to review major urban development initiatives. Discussions focused on progress under key central schemes including AMRUT and AMRUT 2.0, PMAY-Urban, the Smart Cities Mission, Swachh Bharat Mission, DAY-NULM, and PM SVANidhi.
During the meeting, CM Sawant sought special assistance under AMRUT 2.0 for Goa’s ₹652.61 crore "Drink from Tap" (DfT) initiative, requesting ₹326.30 crore to support water source augmentation, infrastructure modernization, and smart water monitoring systems. The Union Minister expressed willingness to consider the proposal to help Goa move toward a 24x7 potable water supply.
