Bengaluru-based real estate major Brigade Enterprises has acquired a 5.41-acre land parcel in Velachery, Chennai, for ₹441.7 crore, marking a significant step in strengthening its presence in the city—now its second-largest market after Bengaluru.
The land has a development potential of 0.8 million sq. ft. and a gross development value (GDV) of ₹1,600 crore. According to Pavitra Shankar, Managing Director at Brigade Enterprises, “Chennai has become our second-largest market through consistent and strategic investment. This acquisition underlines our commitment to expanding in key locations across the city.”
Strategically located, the site offers excellent connectivity to both the IT corridor on Old Mahabalipuram Road (OMR) and Chennai’s Central Business District (CBD), enhancing its attractiveness for residential development.
The transaction was facilitated by real estate consultancy Knight Frank India. Brigade’s growing Chennai portfolio includes developments such as Brigade World Trade Centre and Tech Boulevard, Brigade Altius in Sholinganallur, Brigade Xanadu in Mogappair, and the mixed-use Brigade Icon on Mount Road.
