Bengaluru commuters may soon find relief from chronic traffic congestion and flooding at the Silk Board junction, with two major flyover ramps expected to be completed by December, according to Afcons Infrastructure, the company executing the project.
The ramps mark a significant milestone in efforts to ease traffic at the city’s second-most congested junction, after Hebbal.
“Once operational, there will be zero wait time for vehicles at the junction,” said D. Murugadasan, Executive Vice President at Afcons Infrastructure. “In addition, the new design will help mitigate flooding caused by the city’s stormwater drains (rajakaluves).”
The two ramps are part of a broader infrastructure initiative that includes the construction of five ramps, elevated metro stations along the Outer Ring Road, and road widening at the junction.
