Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has announced infrastructure investments exceeding ₹1.5 lakh crore to upgrade Bengaluru's transport network and ease chronic traffic congestion.
Speaking at Katalyst Connect, organised by the IT-BT Department and the Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM), the Chief Minister outlined a series of major mobility projects planned across the city. These include the construction of an additional 40 km of tunnel roads, including the proposed Hebbal Tunnel Road, more than 44 km of double-decker roads, and a 133-km network of flyovers to improve traffic movement and last-mile connectivity.
The government is also developing the 123-km Bangalore Business Corridor, with ₹26,000 crore earmarked for the first phase of the project. Addressing over 150 representatives from global capability centres (GCCs), Shivakumar reaffirmed the state's commitment to strengthening Bengaluru's infrastructure to support economic growth and attract further investment.
He added that the government aims to expand Bengaluru's Metro network to 500 km by next year, significantly enhancing public transport capacity and improving connectivity across the city for commuters, businesses, and the technology sector.
