Aurangabad Industrial City (AURIC), a flagship smart industrial hub under the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC), has successfully allocated 90% of its industrial plots in the Shendra and Bidkin regions.
To address anticipated water demand—particularly in the Bidkin node—AURIC has initiated construction of a dedicated 900 mm-diameter pipeline from the Jayakwadi Dam. The project will allocate 72 million litres per day (MLD) of water to Bidkin, with a total of 100 MLD secured for future industrial, residential, and commercial requirements across AURIC.
Currently, AURIC receives 30 MLD from MIDC, though actual consumption remains low—approximately 4.5 MLD in Shendra and 1 MLD in Bidkin. However, the infrastructure is part of a forward-looking strategy to accommodate rapid industrial expansion in the coming years.
As part of its sustainable water management plan, 42% of the total water requirement will be met through treated wastewater reuse. The pipeline tendering process began in January, and construction is already underway.
