AP Invites PPP Tenders for ₹1,700 Cr Krishna River Navigation Corridor

The Government of Andhra Pradesh has issued tenders for the development of a 168 km inland navigation corridor at an estimated initial cost of ₹1,700 crore. Aimed at shifting heavy freight from road transport to eco-friendly waterways, the project will significantly enhance industrial-to-port connectivity across the state.

The proposed corridor links an 82 km stretch along the Krishna River—from Muktyala to the Prakasam Barrage—onward to Machilipatnam Port. It is designed to streamline the logistics of bulk commodities, including cement, limestone, and fly ash, from key industrial clusters in the Jaggayyapeta region.

Already granted in-principle approval by the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI), the initiative aligns with the broader development of National Waterway-4 and is set to be executed via a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
