AMRUT 2.0: ₹340 Cr Drinking Water Project for Yadgir District

A major drinking water initiative under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) 2.0 is set to be launched across seven towns in Yadgir district. Minister for Small Scale Industries and Public Enterprises, Sharanabasappa Darshanapur, announced the project during a review meeting held on 10 June 2025, highlighting efforts to address the region’s ongoing water supply challenges.

The five-phase project will cover the towns of Hunsagi, Kakkera, Shahapur, Bheemarayanagudi, Yadgir, Gurmitkal, and one additional town. It is backed by a total grant of ₹340.92 crore, with funding contributions split between the Union government (50%), the State government (40%), and urban local bodies (10%). The project is scheduled for completion within two years.

In parallel, ₹50.96 crore has been released for supplementary water supply works in Yadgir, Shahapur, Shorapur, Gurmitkal, Kembhavi, Kakkera, and Hunsagi. Shorapur has already achieved 24/7 water supply following the completion of Phase 2 of its water project. Additionally, the water supply scheme for Shahapur, sourced from the Sannati Bridge-cum-Barrage, is expected to be completed by 30 June 2025.
