Adani Airports has secured USD 750 million through external commercial borrowings to upgrade infrastructure across six of its airports, including Thiruvananthapuram. Of this, ₹1,300 crore is earmarked for Project Anantha, the expansion of Terminal 2, and ₹700 crore will enhance non-aeronautical services such as retail, food and beverage, duty-free, and other passenger amenities.
Project Anantha aims to expand the existing 45,000 sq. m terminal—currently handling 3.2 million passengers annually—into a 165,000 sq. m facility with a capacity of nearly 12 million passengers per year. The project will include a multi-level curb-integrated terminal, airport plaza, hotel, commercial and administrative spaces, and expanded car parking.
Additional developments include a new ATC tower, international cargo complex, and a remote landside check-in facility. Adani Airport Holdings confirmed that while regulatory approvals are awaited, funding and project plans are in place.
A broader ₹3,000 crore master plan has also been submitted, aiming to redevelop and expand capacity to accommodate 27 million passengers by 2034.
