Amit Shah Lays Foundation for ₹700 Cr Amul Dairy Project

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has laid the foundation stone for the Amul Bengal Dairy Project at Howrah Food Park in West Bengal, which will house the world's largest curd production plant.

The project, being developed by the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), will be established with an investment of around ₹700 crore and is expected to significantly enhance the state's dairy processing capacity. The facility will be capable of processing approximately 30 lakh litres of milk per day and, upon completion, will produce nearly 1,000 tonnes of curd and other cultured dairy products daily, making it the largest curd manufacturing plant of its kind in the world.

The project is aimed at expanding value-added dairy production, strengthening milk procurement infrastructure, and creating improved market opportunities for dairy farmers across West Bengal. It is also expected to boost the state's dairy industry, generate rural employment, and reinforce India's dairy value chain through enhanced processing capabilities.
