Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated one arm of the Ganeshkhind double-decker flyover on August 20, 2025. Developed by the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA), the project is aimed at easing traffic congestion along the busy University Road corridor.
The ₹277 crore flyover connects Aundh and Shivajinagar and is expected to significantly reduce traffic at the Savitribai Phule Pune University junction, while enhancing connectivity towards Chandni Chowk and Pashan. As part of the project, the Pune Municipal Corporation has also widened the adjoining stretch near Vidyapeeth Chowk to 45 metres.
Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar had previously reviewed the project’s progress along with senior officials. The inauguration ceremony, attended by Ministers, MLAs, and top administrators, marks the completion of Phase 1 of the integrated double-decker flyover—a key step in improving urban mobility in Pune.
