Suzlon Group, India’s leading wind energy solutions provider, has secured its first 248.85 MW wind power order from the ArcelorMittal Group through its renewable energy arm, marking a key milestone in its green energy portfolio.
The project, located in Bachau, Gujarat, forms part of a larger 550 MW hybrid renewable energy project in the region. The wind capacity will be dedicated to supplying clean power to ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel’s facilities in India, supporting the steelmaker’s decarbonisation goals.
Under the order, Suzlon will supply 79 S144 wind turbine generators (WTGs), each with a rated capacity of 3.15 MW. This is Suzlon’s fourth major wind energy project focused on decarbonising steel production, taking its cumulative contribution to approximately 1,156 MW of green steel capacity in the country.
Over the past year, Suzlon has partnered with several leading steel producers to accelerate the transition to low-carbon steel manufacturing. As the largest wind energy player in Gujarat, with an installed capacity of 4.5 GW, Suzlon continues to play a pivotal role in advancing sustainable energy adoption within India’s industrial sector.
