ReNew Energy Global Plc (ReNew) has announced a major investment of ₹22,000 crore (approximately $2.5 billion) to develop one of India’s largest hybrid renewable energy projects in the Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh.
The project will have a total generation capacity of approximately 2.8 GW, consisting of 1.8 GWp of solar power and 1 GW of wind power, integrated with a 2 GWh battery energy storage system (BESS). Once completed, it will be among the largest renewable energy installations located at a single site in India.
The foundation stone for this ambitious project was laid by Nara Lokesh, Andhra Pradesh’s Minister for Information Technology, Electronics & Communications, Real-Time Governance, and Human Resources Development.
In its initial phase, ReNew will install 587 MWp of solar and 250 MW of wind capacity, supported by a 415 MWh BESS. Power purchase agreements (PPAs) for this phase have already been secured. The remaining capacity will be developed in subsequent phases, according to the company.
