IWG, the UK-based co-working leader, is setting ambitious expansion plans in India, aiming to scale up to 500 centres nationwide within the next three to five years. Since entering the Indian market in 2004, the company has grown to 105 centres across 28 cities and now sees tier-2 and tier-3 cities as key growth drivers for its next phase.
Marc Descrozaille, IWG's CEO for the Middle East, APAC, and Africa, highlighted the company’s intent to broaden its footprint significantly within the year. “We aim to be in about 50 cities by the end of this year, with a strong focus on tier-2 and -3 locations,” he said.
He noted that India’s current economic momentum presents a timely opportunity for expansion. “There’s strong demand from entrepreneurs and businesses looking to establish or grow their presence,” he remarked. The shift in work culture triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic also strengthens the case for IWG’s flexible workspace solutions. “The way people work has fundamentally changed, and that trend supports our business model,” Descrozaille added.
IWG’s strategic move into smaller cities reflects the rising demand for flexible office spaces beyond metro hubs, aligning with its mission to serve a broader spectrum of professionals and businesses across the country.
