The INR 224-crore Dalmandi road widening project in Varanasi has officially entered its civil execution phase following a ground-breaking ceremony led by BJP MLA Neelkanth Tiwari at the Chowk entry point. Originally initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in August 2025, the project aims to transform the 650-metre street into a 17.4-metre-wide corridor, establishing a seamless new route to the Kashi Vishwanath Dham from Naisadak. Managed by the Public Works Department, the development will unfold in phases—starting with essential underground utilities (sewer, water, and power cables) before final road surface construction. Designed to navigate a densely populated urban landscape, the initiative promises vastly improved traffic flow, enhanced security, and better accessibility for millions of devotees and local traders.
